fixer upper home for sale

1509 Rebecca St, Sioux City, IA, 51103          $39,900  Off Market

We featured this beauty a week ago, but tragically, the house burned to the ground a couple of days ago. The realtor had planned to take interior photos, but before that could happen rumor has it that some homeless people who were squatting in the house started a fire. The house is utterly destroyed. No one was hurt. Here is the youtube video.

Queen Anne Victorian ~ Fixer Upper Home For Sale, with tons of potential!!!!! Selling as is…

OHC Notes: Don’t know why there are no interior pics, but here is a description I found on another website.

Hello everyone-

I’m the owner of 1509 Rebecca. This is a beautiful home that needs some love again. I started to restore the house, but unfortunately I’m moving and no longer have the time. I love old homes and have restored many. I chose the new paint colors and painted most of the outside and replace any worn/cracked lap boards. The inside still has some of it’s character- the staircase is original and in good shape. The woodwork is all there, but some is painted (mostly first floor), floors are in good shape but need to be refinished, the claw foot tub, etc I bought this on a foreclosure auction. The previous owners removed and probably sold the radiators, door knobs, and some other metal hardware (maddening and sad). I restored and have the stain glass window on the first floor (front). I don’t list it with the house unless I know the new owner will restore the property (not kill it with siding and get the character out of it (I’m hoping this doesn’t happen). The second story stain glass window in the center was gone before I became the owner. It needs new roof, porch work, and heating (cooling if desired). I took out some bad ceiling work, including a lowered ceiling (with ceiling tiles) that was covering up what once was a beautiful papered ceiling in the parlor. The finial has been gone for some time. I own a house two blocks down from here and don’t ever recall seeing it. The neighborhood is fine- low crime rate. Sioux City is a very pocketed town. Great homes next to not so great homes. This neighborhood has a mixture. I have lived here 8 years and never had any problems or felt unsafe. My house (the one I live in) will be going on the market soon and it’s a stunner. One of the best houses in Sioux City. With both these properties, I’m hoping to find someone who has a real appreciation for these old beauties and in the case of 1509, will bring it up to its former glory. In the case of my home- to maintain it. Look for a large Richardsonian Romanesque coming up in a couple weeks, also on Rebecca. It’s killing me to let it go, but new job, new town. I’ll be happy to answer any questions on either property. Oh, and no ax murders or zombies here….
